My block exam is like one week away, but I don't have the mood to take in any more information, so here I am again, blogging~
For the past weeks, the whole of Manipal was getting excited about UTSAV. Utsav is basically an annual cultural intercollege competition among the colleges under Manipal University. It's like the big thing that everyone looks forward to. The event was held for five days and for that every five days, we got half day off. It's just to encourage the students to participate. Competition range from drawing, cartooning to instrumental to singing and dancing; everyday is just packed with events to watch and enjoy. KMC Green stage was nicely set up with a pitched huge tent to cater for the audience. They even invited high-profile judge for every event, showing how serious the university took the competition. You won't believe the amount of talent I witness throughout these five days. I never knew that the ordinary Jack or Mary I passed by on the road to class everyday are that gifted. Utsav is really where the real competition begins.
As you know, the busy-body me want to stick my nose into anything I can get hold in Manipal; so I joined the western instrumental solo event. Well, that was on the request of the dean actually. Just a lil' on my preparations, I was changing songs until two weeks before the competition that I settle in with V.Motti Czardas. I knew it was a risky song, it's either I nail it or mess up. Well, I messed it up alright. My competitors were mostly guitarist or pianist; you can say I'm like the odd one with the violin. Well, some gave jaw-dropping performance; others were just so so. I was the last to go; no. 14. I just want to thank my classmates and lecturers who came and waited till the very end with me, really appreciate it. I'm so sorry to disappoint you all with the bad performance, was really stressed that time, will do better next time. Interbatch, here I come~ :p
Right after that event, I have to rush to another event, Cultural Parade. (I told you I'm a busy body) For this event, I had to wake up 4 am in the morning just to rehearse on the KMC stage. (It was creepy to walk around Manipal that early. The town is like deserted, dark and cold) The organizer gave us odd slots, which I thought was really unfair. Our theme was, The Dancing Warrior.
Well, we didn't really portray that, it was more like the Dances of Asia. Maximum 19 people are allowed on stage and we have to parade the kind of cultural background we are from. (not sure if you get what I mean) Our college combined Malay Silat, Jawanese dance, Iban dance, Indian classical dance and Chinese Sleeves dance. We ended our parade with a dragon dance which secures our winning crown.
The whole parade can only last for 3 minutes, more than that will cost you to be disqualified. Each dance was only allowed 30 sec to be at the center stage. Anyway, back to the rehearsal, Xin Yi, Jewel and I were involved in the Chinese Sleeves dance. Since our senior Carol and Elora are back in Malaysia, we had to come out with the choreograph this time. I say, it was really messy, but hey, it wasn't too bad. We won 1st place, beating some other 14 college flat. Don't mess with us; we are Malaysian, truly Asian~

What’s next in Manipal? Supremo! Heard it is another interbatch. We shall see. For now, I need to focus on my upcoming exam. Thanks for tuning in.
