Do Bring or Not to Bring

NOTE: I wrote this back in block 3. Forgotten to post it up. (*..*) Anyway, here you go~ 

So ya, my block 3 examination is OVER! One step nearer to the energy-draining-not-so-welcoming University exam.  I know it’s early to share this (5 more months till the next intake) but just for the sake of those curious soon-to-be juniors, I thought, why not. 

Don't Brings! :

1.     Shoes which are a big NO-NO on dusty, rocky Manipal roads (seriously, you can see brownish dust sticking to the sides of your shoes):

-        White coloured

-        Expansive leather

-        Designer’s/expansive

-        High heels (this one is high not recommended especially if it’s your first trip down. Save the space for clothes or other things!)

2.      Umbrella (You can get really nice umbrella here, don’t bother wasting the space. Besides, I don’t think our Malaysian umbrella is tough enough to beat India’s rain)

3.      FOR GIRLS: Don’t bother bringing short skirts (above knee-length) or even mini- skirts as you won’t be allowed to wear them. Even if you do wear them, the locals here will look at you one kind. I don’t think you will like the attention. (The winds are rough here!)

4.      Bowl, cups, knife (You might be laughing when I mention this, but when you are down to packing, all these random things will start popping out in your mind. Don’t worry; these things can be bought here and at a cheap price too. Cutleries is advisable though)

5.      Note books/ A4 paper/ Test pad (You can get them all here, and you definitely will need much more than you can carry. Save that extra for something else)

6.      Padlock

To bring:

1.      Chinese Tea (You might miss it, and it’s India)

2.      Booster (That is if you really need one to sleep. Just hand carry it~)

3.      Blanket (This is very advisable. You can’t find good blanket here and it’s really cold during rainy season and the winter)

4.      Dark coloured long pants

5.      FOR GIRLS: Do bring at least one dress. It can be a summer dress or dinner dress. We do have special events when you require them.

6.      FOR BOYS: Extra pair of shoes. (Shoes are very easy to get spoil in India roads. And extra pair will really come in handy.)

7.      Non-Marking shoes (If you want to access the nice, fully air condition sport complex, having one is a must. Other types of shoes are not allowed in.)

8.      Vicks (The ones in India smell…wEiRd)

9.      Mosquito repellant (That is if you really can’t stand mosquito bites. Mind you the mosquito here are double the size of the ones back home)

10.   Plastic, PVC or Crocs type of material shoes (Waterproof shoes are the best here.)
